Emotional Wellbeing for Women
Offering specialized care for women through every stage of their reproductive years
Peripartum Anxiety & Depression
Whether you are noticing an increase in anxiety, feeling unusually down, or experiencing symptoms that are getting in the way of your life, you deserve support. While many people have heard of postpartum depression, changes in mood can begin not only after giving birth, but also during pregnancy. I specialize in treating peripartum women because I understand how pregnancy and motherhood can be a wonderful, but also stressful, difficult, and even traumatic time in women’s lives. Many of my clients begin their work while pregnant and move to longer-term psychotherapy as they transition into motherhood and beyond.
Fertility
Pursuing fertility treatments or accepting infertility can lead to a rollercoaster of feelings. No matter why you are considering Assisted Reproductive Therapies, disappointment, sadness, and poor self esteem might affect you. And that’s not to mention all those shots! I understand the complicated nature of determining if IVF is right for you, and I have helped my clients manage the ups and downs of treatment failure and success.
Perimenopause & Menopause
You’ve heard about “the change” and, if you are lucky, you have friends or family that talk about the period when, well, you lose your period. As women age, they have to deal with more than just hot flashes and mood swings — self-image and relationships may be affected as well. I can help you look beyond the hormones and physical symptoms to uncover the emotional nuances or turbulence that may go along with experiencing perimenopause.
Trauma, Grief & Loss
The loss of a child is a grief like no other. Miscarriage, fetal loss, or the death of an infant is a path that no parent should traverse alone. I have helped my clients work through this deeply personal grief with quiet compassion and sensitivity. No matter what the outcome, difficult birth experiences can also result in trauma that can impact parenting and future pregnancies. I have worked with mothers with babies in the NNICU, with physical injuries of their own, and with a wide array of other traumas (including having a baby during COVID).
